The Friends of Roan Mountain has held Naturalist’s Rallies for over 50 years. Their purpose is to promote the natural beauty of the Roan Mountain and to offer outdoor education. The Kid’s Naturalist Rally started in 2009.
Ages of children that participate: from 12 months (although I’m not sure what he remembered) to seventeen years.
The average age is ten to twelve. These kids are very eager to learn and are usually very interested in new things.
A children are to be accompanied by adults. This makes it an Adventure for the whole family.
We do have a couple of “junior” adventures so that everyone can enjoy an adventure. The crafts and the hands on Adventures are designed for one-on-one assistance from leaders.
Our family participated in the July rally and had a blast! Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable! We had fun while learning at the same time.
